I make paper. From plants and vegetables and old clothes and other recycled things.

I learned how to do it a long time ago when I worked at an environmental center where we taught kids how to tear up old paper, put the pieces in a kitchen blender with water, and mash it up to make "new" paper pulp.

Then I went to school for biology, and more school for environmental policy, and then I decided I wanted to be an artist, which is pretty much what I wanted to do in the first place, but somehow got off track.

So I've taught and created lots of painting and drawing and art and crafts of all types, but I keep coming back to the papermaking. A mix of science and art, with some eco-sensibility and environmental responsibility thrown in, and not a lot of rules about the right or wrong ways to make handmade paper art. And it's fun.

You can check out some photos of my process here.
